How Much Does a Trade Show Booth Cost in 2027?

At Connect Exhibit, we’ve designed, built, and rented more than 10,000 booths since 2014. So in this guide, we give you real price ranges by booth size and booth type. We also show you the costs most people forget.

The Quick Answer

Why such a big range? Two booths of the same size can look very different. One may have simple fabric walls. Another may have a second floor, an LED wall, and a meeting room.

What Is the Difference Between Rental, Modular, and Custom?

Rental booths belong to the builder. You use the frame and add your own graphics. When the show ends, the booth goes back. This is the lowest cost up front.

Modular booths are made from parts that snap together. You can move the parts around to fit small or big spaces. You can reuse them at show after show.

Custom booths are built from scratch for your brand. You get full control over the shape, size, and look. They cost the most at first, but you can reuse them too.

What Changes the Price?

A few big things push the cost up or down:

Size: More space means more walls, more graphics, and more labor.

Height: Tall walls, towers, and hanging signs cost more to build and set up.

Materials: Wood and metal cost more than fabric and aluminum frames.

Tech: LED walls, touch screens, and lighting add to the bill.

Rooms: A meeting room or storage closet adds walls, doors, and labor.

Live product displays: Working sinks, appliances, or machines need power, water, or extra support.

The Hidden Costs Nobody Talks About

This is where many budgets go wrong. The booth is only part of the bill. The show and venue also charge you for services.

These often include:

  • Shipping your booth to the show and back
  • Drayage: moving your crates from the loading dock to your booth space
  • Electrical service: power for lights, screens, and devices
  • Labor: union crews who set up and take down your booth
  • Rigging: hanging signs from the ceiling
  • Plumbing: water and drains for working displays
  • Internet
  • Cleaning
  • Storage between shows

As a rough guide, plan $15 – $35 per square foot for these show services. For a 10 × 20 booth, that’s about $3,000 to $7,000 on top of the booth itself.

Prices change a lot from venue to venue. Big halls in Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, and Orlando each have their own rules and rates. Always check the exhibitor manual for your show.

Should You Rent or Buy?

Here’s a simple way to think about it.

  • Going to 1 or 2 shows a year? Renting is usually the smarter choice. You pay less up front and skip storage costs.
  • Going to 3 or more shows a year? A modular or custom booth often costs less over time. You pay once and reuse it.
  • Testing a new market? Start with a rental. Buy later if the show works for you.

A Real Example: A 22 × 20 Booth in Under a Week

Master Casting & CAD came to Connect Exhibit less than a week before JCK Las Vegas 2025. They had no layout and no design yet. They needed a premium 22 × 20 booth with room for private client talks.

Our team shared layout options and graphics within 24 hours. We checked colors and structure against the venue rules, then installed the booth ahead of schedule.

Fast builds like this are possible with the right team. But most brands get more design choices and better prices when they plan early. Read the full case study.

5 Ways to Save Money on Your Booth

  1. Plan early. Rush orders cost more. So do late show forms.
  2. Use lighter materials. Fabric graphics weigh less, so shipping and drayage cost less.
  3. Reuse your booth. Modular parts can be rearranged for different shows.
  4. Pack smart. Fewer, lighter crates mean lower shipping and handling fees.
  5. Work with one team. A single partner for design, build, shipping, and setup avoids double charges and mix-ups.
